Casual sex, Cairo and a culture of “temporary”

Don’t be deceived by the numerous mosques scattered in downtown Cairo or the “pious” (but vastly hypocritical) masses.

Sex in Cairo amongst expats- and I would even venture to say some Egyptians (especially men)- is extremely casual.

So in contemplating why it might especially be so in Cairo…

I thought of a few theories:

(1) a reaction to conservative Muslim society,

(2) the stress of Cairo means you need to get laid,

(3) the stress of Cairo means you need a drink, which leads to getting laid.
